As one of a family of ten children it is hard for many of us to imagine what it must have been like during the nineteen thirties through to the nineteen sixties. We forget that the luxury of electric light and telecommunications were out of reach for many for a long while. Not to mention the convenience of having an indoor toilet. A bucket under a plank with a hole in it was the norm for many especially for folks living in the rural areas. As time marches on we stand to loose much of the down to earth facts of day to day living and how our predecessors coped during these years. This book is about one child and his life during the war years and onwards the man and it is hoped that in its pages we shall get an insight into the hardships and simple joys of these challenging times and those who lived in them.
